Collaboration with TSS (Team Spreading Smiles)
Team Spreading Smiles (TSS) is a Mumbai based group of volunteers working in collaboration with ASHA since November 2020. TSS volunteers conduct online activities like spoken English classes, drawing classes, art and craft classes through video tutorials on weekly basis for ASHA‘s girls group.
The online spoken English classes are mainly conducted for 9th to 11th std girls where the volunteers are helping girls to converse in English. After 12th std exams most of the girls from ASHA’s group join part-time job and also continue with their higher education. By attending the spoken English classes girls are more confident and better equipped to face the challenges of the outside world.
Another main activity is of online drawing classes which help the girls in expressing themselves freely and to apply their creativity. The schools in India conduct elementary and intermediate certificate drawing examinations. The girls who participate in both drawing exams get extra marks in SSC board exams. The TSS volunteers are preparing girls for these drawing exams. In year 2022, seven girls appeared for elementary drawing exam. One got A grade, three girls got B grade and three girls got C grade. All of them are appearing for intermediate drawing exam this year. TSS volunteer has conducted online preparation classes for them in summer vacation. TSS is also providing drawing material to girls as when necessary.
